Add a theme

Here are the basic steps to add another theme, which you may want to do when you add a new microsite.

  1. On the application server, copy an existing theme into a new folder in /edx/app/edxapp/themes. Name the new folder the name of your new theme (e.g. new-theme/)
  2. Log into the Django admin dashboard (/admin). Navigate to Theming > Site Themes.
  3. Select "Add Site Theme" and enter the site name and theme name. Theme name must match the name of your new theme folder (e.g. new-theme)
  4. Compile Assets: link . This can take a while
  5. Now you can make changes to your new theme. Most changes require Asset Compilation.
